Curriculum Intent

At Yalding Primary School, our curriculum is rooted in our Christian vision:

“I came that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness.” (John 10:10)

We believe that every child is uniquely created, valued and loved by God. Our curriculum is designed to enable all pupils to flourish personally, morally, spiritually and academically, so that they experience life in all its fullness.

Through an ambitious, inclusive and engaging curriculum, we nurture the knowledge, skills, values and character needed for children to thrive in an ever-changing world. We aim to develop confident, resilient and reflective learners who are equipped to contribute positively to their communities and wider society.

In an environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, we actively promote our Christian values of love, respect and responsibility. Through opportunities for reflection, discussion and service, pupils develop wisdom, compassion and courage. They learn to recognise injustice, understand their responsibilities towards others and the world around them, and become courageous advocates who are inspired to make a positive difference.

Curriculum Implementation

Our curriculum is carefully planned and sequenced to ensure progression in knowledge, skills and understanding from Early Years through to Year 6. High-quality teaching, supported by evidence-informed practice and targeted interventions where appropriate, ensures all pupils are able to succeed and flourish.

To bring our vision to life, we:

• Plan subjects progressively so that knowledge and skills build over time.
• Use enquiry-based learning to develop curiosity, critical thinking and deeper understanding.
